Red Wellington Theatre the exciting new international branch of TYPT (Totnes Young People’s Theatre). Established in 2009 this exciting new branch of the company seeks to continue TYPT’s work on an international level and build connections between schools and theatres, focusing currently on the Los Angles area.
Established for over 10 years TYPT offers drama workshops on a weekly basis throughout term time in established theatre venues and in outdoor, site specific locations in the South West of England. Covering a huge range of theatre interests and drama related techniques in all year groups, ranging from basic ‘play’ and creative teamwork to more specific skills such as improvisation, character work, devising, script, physical theatre, mask work, storytelling and stage craft, TYPT also has produced numerous performances on a project-by-project basis; often working site specifically and with local heritage and history.
Red Wellington Theatre consists of TYPT workshop facilitators Polly Sheppard and Amie Taylor, who have both worked on their own similar projects in the past. The Autumn 2009 project ‘Let’s Act 09’ seeks to explore issues of sustainable development with children in the Los Angeles area using theatre as a vehicle.
